About Good Services

Capitol Hill in 1909 was a rural area near the city of Seattle covered with trees. There among the hoop skirts and bustles on 10 th Ave a plumbing business was established. Like its location it was named Capitol Hill Plumbing.

Folks in the rapidly growing area found Capitol Hill Plumbing to be skillful in service and installation and very conveniently located. This positive relationship continued until 1947 when a local Seattle plumber, Jay Frees, purchased Capitol Hill Plumbing and began his tenure with the business that was to last another 50 yrs.

Mr. Frees continued the plumbing service and remodeling business under his name. The once rural area by this time had matured into a real Seattle neighborhood. Mr. Frees became well known as an important resource for both old plumbing fixtures and the special skill they required to install and repair.

In 1997 Mr Frees, who was in his eighties, began to think of retirement. He contacted Bruce Good of Good Services Corporation, suggesting that Good Services, with its emphasis on remodeling, heating, and custom new construction would combine with Jay Frees to offer the customers of both businesses a wider area of service and expertise.

Good Services had been on Capitol Hill since 1971 (first as Bruce the Plumber) and was well known to Mr. Frees. An agreement was reached and the combined company continues to operate out of the Jay Frees building on 12 th Ave.

Since this time Good Services/Jay Frees has increased its area of work to include heating and radiant heating. Initially it had the only RPA Certified radiant heating technicians in Seattle. Today about 25% of our work consists of heating.
